Episode 7: “A Survivor’s Story: Advocate, Educator, and Leader of Change”
Bonnie Addario is an activist, advocate, educator and change agent empowering patients and giving them a strong voice in the fight against lung cancer ever since she received a stage 3B diagnosis in 2003. Bonnie immediately recognized the need for education, empowerment, advocacy and research to help patients and families, especially those without resources and support. In 2006, with the support and help of her family she founded the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF), to then later found the Addario Lung Cancer Medical Institute (ALCMI) with her husband Tony Addario in 2008. The Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF) is one of the largest global philanthropies (patient-founded, patient-focused and patient-driven) devoted exclusively to eradicating lung cancer through research, early detection, education and treatment.
In 2019 the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation joined forces with Lung Cancer Alliance as the GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer, making them the world’s largest and most influential foundation dedicated to saving the lives of those diagnosed with lung cancer. Bonnie is the Co-Founder of GO2 Foundation.
Prior to the Foundation, Bonnie held various management positions that resulted in becoming President of Olympian Oil and its subsidiary, Commercial Fueling Network (CFN) in 1997, and the first woman President of the California Oil Industry Marketing Association.
Bonnie is a community activist serving on diverse boards, all contributing to her work at the Foundation in developing business strategies and being the Foundation’s patient voice at national/international conferences, on panels and boards, and to industry leaders, clinicians and policy makers.
We are pleased to release this special episode with a fighter and a friend, Bonnie Addario!
